December 22. — There is hardly an owner of thoroughbred horses within range of this eitv who has not taken a good look at the horses in the Maekav consignment which will lie sold at Dnrlands Thursday night. Opinions differ about some of the lot and while the stars like Gunrock, Gloriaua ami Sunlight will elicit spirited bidding there may tie a lull when some of the others are sent into" tlie ring, several of them hardly having recovered from their ocean trip. "They are much better titan they look." said Fred Burlew". who had them in hand and tried the majority before they wen- shipped. "They all come from good stock and if I only had a week longer to tit them for the sales ring they would look vastly different in outward apiiearance. but even In their present state their good qualities stand out." Charles Hill, who is al.o looking after the Mac-s kay interests, is enthusiastic about Sunlight, the only horse of the get of Sundridge in this country, "He is a colt I would like if I was buying." said Mr. Hill. "His sire is the horse the French syndi-e .ale l». light from Mr. Joel III Fnglaud and I be-a Move paid 00,000 for him. Sundridge gets nothing but winners and a goodly percentage of high-class horses. I firmly believe Sunlight is the making of a good race horse." Those who have inspected the yearlings include Gifford A. Cochran. H. C. Hallenheck. Frederick and George F. Johnson, W. T. Gwathmey, Algernon Daingerfield, W. II. Rowe.
