Tony Fashion Out of the Maiden Class — Queen Apple Defeats Sonny Boy — Encore Makes a New Track Becord — Lapaille Stars. Havana. Cuba, December 22. — Racing is making a great hit here this winter. The patronage of the sport at Oriental Park is growing by leaps and bounds. Yesterday saw the gathering of tlie greatest crowd at the track that has ever been seen there on a Tuesday and today the attendance was conspicuously good. The layers of odds report a constant increase in the volume of betting. Every day is bringing forth arrivals of turf followers from the United States and a big influx is looked for after the holidays. The track is in perfect condition and shows the results of the ex|ienditures made in re-bunding it during the summer. Every one of todays races carried selling conditions, but the card produced good sport. The race for maiden two year-olds allowed Tony Fashion to graduate from the non-winning class. "The twa-year-old Queen Apple won the all ag.-d sprint at five and one half furlongs by a head from the tiring Sonny Boy. which entered the stretch with a lead of four lengths. The consistent Encore found it easy to duplicate his vietory of a day or two ago and this time lie was pitted against much better opptiKition. He dashed into the lead with tlie rise of the barrier and making all the pace reduced the track record for five-eighths to 50% seconds. Kopje was the only winning favorite of the day. but several of the other winners came in for good backing. The attendance today was the largest of any day except Sunday. Speculation this afternoon was keen. Jockey King Lapaille rode three winners and Par-rington two. There were many arrivals this morning.
