WHITNEY STABLE IMPOSING IN NUMBERS. Thirty-Nine Horses at Brookdale Farm and Twenty at Louisville Ready for Training. New York. February 20. — James Rowe has fifty-nine horses under preparation for the coming campaign, including thirty-nine at Brookdale Farm in New Jersey and twenty in the care of Albert 81-UH..IS in Kentucky. Thirty-eight are two-year-olds and the remainder three-year-olds and over. Mr. Howe will begin his campaign in Kentucky, as he did last year, when he won the Derby with Begret and the Kentucky Handicap with Borrow. "I have not sent in the entries yet, said Mr. Rowe. ••but they will be rather extensive. I cannot tell which horses will race there, much depending upon the way they train, hut Mr. Whitneys colors will be represented in both the Derby and Kentucky Handicap, if all goes well with the elig-ihles." Regarding the two-year-olds, Mr. Kowe intimated that he may send two or three from Brookdale if Albert Simons had nothing good enough. "It is too early to draw definite conclusions." said Mr. Kowe. "but are have a lot of good horses to draw from, eight of which are imported." With Nottcr and Thomas McTaggart cngag -d as liders. it seems that Mr. Whitneys stable will not only be the largest in training, but the most formidable iu every department.
