VICTORIOUS DR. LARRICK GIVES K0RFHAGE AND DR. CARMEN MUCH WEIGHT AND AN EASY BEATING. Prosperous Attendance Continues Despite Moderate Class of Horses Racing — Pan Zareta to Be Given a Long Rest. Hot Springs. Ark.. March 22. — Racing in his best form and conceding much weight to Korfhage- and Dr. Carmen. Dr. Larrick won the sprint handicap which fe-atured this afternoons card at Oaklawn. in easy fashion after having led for the entire way. The scarcity of good racing material here- was painfully shown this afternoon when four of the raies had to be given over to the 00 top and bottom variety. It made little difference to the vast concourse of racing enthusiasts now here, for they uniph demonstrated their desire- for ruling by attending in generous numbers. Twenty - five- "informal ion men were again in line ami did a fairly brisk business, but fared poorly, as most of the winners were given stout support. Dr. Mack II. was uncovered as i good thing in the apeaer and he won without difficulty, but his sue--■ess was followed by a suspension of jockey Kederbj for the rest of the meeting for rough riding. Kcde-ris interfered sharply with Vampire when the latter was offering Dr. Mack II. serious contention in the first quartet. The frequently offending Biswas tone aguta failed Alien he- finished second to Dine Wing in the second rae-e. The third race brought a narrow escape for the confidently backed Sir L. Joe. which just out-staved Bmoky Dan. Steal was an expected extender in this race, but failed to quite get up. At the conclusion of the racing here. 11. S. Newman, owner of Pan Zareta. will ship that good mare. Serf Savin. Marie Miller and Noynim back to Sweetwater. Te.. where they will be retired in a- racing until next fall or winter. Pressing business at home on bis extensive ranch demands Mr. Nov mans Immediate attention and he will refrain from racing for a time. The racers that he will not ship back home will be offered for sal.-, including Far Away and Ima Frank. Judge Campbell modified the ruling against ic key Cooper and reduci-d his suspension to sj days, which will make the rider eligible to again take mounts next Wednesday. Duke of Shelby furnished a big surprise when he showed the way to the others in the closing dash. He was ridden by Hanmer. a newcomer. and is trained by T. Mellale. of Delle of Memphis fame . Jockey C. W. Carroll was another newcomer and made his debut an auspicious one by landing Industry winner of the fifth race. Jockey J. Metcalf was suspended for six days by the starter for failure to get away from the post with the others in the third race.
