LEGAL SKIRMISH OPENS AT NEW ORLEANS. New Orleans. Ka.. March 28. Colonel John I*. Sullivan and .1. .1. Betttej . representing the Banteeea Mens Racing Association, won the first skirmish in the suit of Miss Jean Cordon and Alfred F. Page, former auditor of the association, seeking a receiver fir the race track body. Messrs. Sullivan and Reilley succeeded in convincing Judges Ellis and King that the exception! which they had to offer in the case would have to Ik- argued before the submitting of evidence. Trial of the case began yesterdu, . The case will probably take several days of the court *s time. The court room was crowded and much local interest is being taken as l.i whether the association will nm the cam or not. it being i oiitended today that attorney Sullivan scored a heavy point when lie made Miss Cordon admit that she did not baj ler stock for investment, but simply to try to break up the association. Today the law vers for the racing association won all their cententieas in support of their claims that exceptions filed by them had to be decided before evidence could be heard.
