1 , j 1 I - ! i- f PROBABLE CLASSIC EVENTS NOMINATIONS. Commenting on probable nominations to the New Derby anil New Oaks of this year, London Sports- man of March 11 says: "The two races are this year open to all three-l year-olds and thirty entries are asked for in each ease, hut the condition of the sweepstakes are now KM sovereigns each, half forfeit, with 1.000 sovereigns added to the Derby and 500 sovereigns to the Oaks. We may take it that Bhalaris, Canyon. Kwang Su. Clarissimus. Ferox. Atheling, Fifinella. Kings Joker. Sirian. Broken Doll. Pomerania. Buss in Boots a filly by Peter Ran out of Star Cat bred in United States of America, Bel dEeosse. Figaro. Angus. Salainandra. Cretan Swell, Flaming Fire, Salandra. Ali Bey and Melga will in all probability be entered, some of them in both races, and with the gate now open to them Mr. James Daly may be tempted to have a cut in with his Irish crack, Lord DAbernon with his charming filly Eos. and the Duke of Bortland with Cannobie and Taciturn. Which were included in the belated entry for the Grand Prize of Paris of this year, as were also the colt by Sundridge out of Cypress. Jack Annan-dale. Light oDawn. Archbishop, Despotic, Adoruo, St. Patricks Blue, the colt by Cicero out of Lily of the Valley, celt -v Challacombe out of Escalade, and filly by Martagou out of Koster Girl. True, the minor forfeit is only four sovereigns, but if these were possessed of any pretensions to win the lug French race it is not extravagant to ex|ieet that some at least will be nominated for the home classics, and it may be taken for granted that some French owners will avail themselves of the opportunity offered."
