The Globe, is apparently of extra merit. R. B. Strassburger has purchased from .Limes Butler Panacea, b. e. 3. by Peter Pan Mint Cake. It is lielievcd that Mr. Strassburger intends shipping all his thorooghhreda to Pennsylvania almost immediately. Matt, Dooley is arranging for their tiansfer. Trainer Jack Adkins will within the next few-days transfer R. J .Mackenzies Biickhorn to the Latonia track from La Belle Stud, at Lexington, where he has been in service this season, ami again put the noted son of Broomstick in training, lie believes Biickhorn will race as brilliantly the loming fall as evi r before. Secretary Brown of the Montreal Driving Club, was a visitor at Maisoiiiienve Wednesday in the in terest of the second meeting of his club, which will o|" 11 on Saturday afternoon at Dclorimier Park. The track will Im- in better condition than for the spring meeting, notwithstanding the recent hcaij rains. The track is well drained. Gene Elrod and Ben Hinkle have left Latonia for Hamilton. The Hamilton track has been equipped with miituel machines of the Haehuieister type and secretary A. R. Loudon wanted a couple of experi enced men to help start off the innovation. Mr. Elrod has not entirely reentered from his recent illness, hut is improving and hopes to be entirely well within .1 few days. The epidemic of coughing is practically over at Belmont Park, but horse owners at various points on Long Island are having trouble with their horses which are out on pasture. By Dr. McCullys advice they are keeping their animals off the grass for the present, as the recent copious rains have made it unfit for horse food. With the return of normal summer weather it is lxdieved that most of the sickness complained of will disappear. Tumbler is greatly admired by trainers and is said to Is- the handsomest and ttost developed two-year-old as yet shown ill eastern racing. In his 4 " last race when McTaggart saw the chance to rush to the front, as the others ran wide preparatory to entering the straight. Tumbler answered the call for sliced with a rush that startled the spectators, and in a few gigantic strides, dashed to the front so rapidly that the others seemed to be standing still. The experiment of using pari-mutuels at a half-mile track will lie tried at the forthcoming meeting of the King Edward Jockey Club at lie Gros Bois, July 5-12. The installation of some machines has been arranged for. and these will compete with the ] usual ring arrangements. If the experiment proves successful at King Edward Park, it is likely that the machines will lie adopted to the entire exclusion of the books. The matter, it is felt by the management of the island track, will rest entirely in the hands of the public. If a marked preference is shown for the machines, the books will be abandoned entirely. The Cambridgeshire Hunt Plate of ,500. substituted for the famous Royal Hunt Cup. was the feature race at the first of the two days extra meeting at Newmarket, in England. Tuesday, and resulted in a win for E. Hultons Silver Tag. with J. Chillis in the saddle, which heat the Duke of Westminsters Ali Bey. Dick up. by two lengths. J. P.. Joels Polystome. ridden by Bullock, was third, a short head behind. Betting was: Silver Tag S to 1: Ali Bey. 11 to S. and Polystome, 1H to S. Twelve horses went to the ! ost. Following so soon after winning hath the Derby and the Oaks with Fifiuella. this success brings Air. Hiilton to tin- top of the winning owners with close to 0,000 to his credit. Jefferson Livingston has come to Chicago. From here he will go to New York City for quite a stay, as his eastern headquarters are located in the great metro] olis. Mr. Livingston has thirty-six horses in training at present. He has thirty-two head at Latonia and the rest at Louisville. Mr. Livingston has six highly-bred yearlings at the Waldeck Stock Farm, near Louisville. He also has a half-dozen yearlings at Joseph Batter*! racing establishment at Newmarket. England. They will reach this country not month and will probably be sent to some farm near Lexington. The Livingston horses will be shipped from Latonia to Saratoga at the end of the l„itoiiia meeting. He has horses entered in nearly every stake at that meeting. Royal II., Colonel Vefinie. Fleuro. Polroma and Mainly Hamilton are well nominated and all are rounding into good form.
