GALLEY HEAD, :i quick beginner, sprinted into a long lead in the first eighth and saved ground on all turns, but was ridden out to withstand TARAHERA. The latter made a wide turn into the homestretch, but was gaining on the leader at the end. JAVATO began slowly and ran fairly well. REX GAIETY showed speed, but quit. RRANDYWINE began slowly but saved ground on all turns and, finishing fast, took the lead in the last eighth and won going away. PERPETUAL was a forward contender all the way and finished gamely. ETHAN ALLEN set a good pace, but tired and swerved out in the homestretch. RE ran well for him. The winner was entered for 00; no bid. The latter raced closer up than usual early, but tired finally. Al LISA was interfered with when she tried to come through on the inside in the homestretch. OLYN G. was in a jam at the half-mile post and almost fell, then closed a gap and finished fast and close up.
