GOOD DAY FOR THE WHITNEY HORSES. Thunderer Takes the First Race and Master Mc-Grath the Woodhavcn Selling Stakes. New York. July 0. The crowd at Aqueduct today was as good as usual for mid-week and weather conditions were perfect. The colors of H. P. Whitney were borne to victory in two of todays races when Thunderer and Master McGrath -both scored. Master McGrath in winning the Woodhaven Selling Stakes showed a good performance. Straight Forward was second and Jack Mount third. There is considerable agitation here for racing at Aqueduct and Jamaica in the autumn after the Belmont Park meeting in September. The idea is merelv in embryo, but may grow and be considered by the Jockey Club. No fall dates have been issued for Maryland as yet. Xot only are some of the horsemen interesting themselves, but the Aqueduct and Jamaica associations would not be averse to such a plan. The matter probably will be put up to the Jockey Club in the near future. J. W. Hedrick bid Xephthys up from 00 to ,300 and his owner protected him. At a meeting of the steeplechase stewards this afternoon Med Ilendedsons suspension for his ride on Duke of Duluth Wednesday was ordered continued until August 10. Thunderer was slightly lame when going to the post in the first race and pulled up nodding. This was the cause of the fluctuation in the betting. The sharpshooters played all around him. He is suffering from two splints which are clearly defined under both knees. Last year they were blind splints. The colt was fired last fall and bore the marks of the iron in his first start. In todays race he run the last half mile in 17 seconds. Racontense after repeating in the fifth race was the medium for some active bidding. J. W. Hedrick advanced the filly to ,000 and Frank Short carried her to ,300 but she was protected by her owner, W. M. Carter.
