LARGE CROWD VIEWS FORT ERIE RACES. Bondage Wins the Niagara Stakes in an Extremely Close Finish -with Manokin. Fort Erie, Out., July C The Niagara Stakes, a dash of five-eighths, with a net value of ,020 to the winner, was offered as the chief attraction by the Niagara Racing Association this afternoon and helped to draw out a large crowd to Fort Erie. A field of the best two-year-olds racing on the Canadian circuit went to the post in this race and it furnished a stirring contest in which Bondage came from behind to get up m time to beat Manokin by a head. There were eleven starters. It was a good betting race, several of the field finding strong support, with Wau-keag the most fancied. Pas de Chance, Swift Fox and Manokin alternated in setting the pace, but they all tired in thq homestretch. It was a busy afternoon for the bidders-up and Sam Louis figured prominently in the runups. After Handfull won, H. G. Bedwell advanced him 00 over his entered price, but Louis protected the colt. In the following race, which was won bv Little Nephew, Louis carried the winner from 00 to 00 and secured him. Louis also claimed Baby Cal, which finished second to Little Nephew, for 50.
