NEW YORK EXTENSION HIGHLY PROBABLE. Plans in the Making for Continuation of Racing on the New York Tracks Until End of September. Now York. July 11. A continuance of racing until tho end of September on one of the tracks on Long Island is now merely a question of terms and arrangements. The proposition is to continue the sport after the close of the Belmont Park meeting, which would permit about eighteen additional days. Whether the dates will bo divided between Aqueduct and Jamaica is a question, there being some talk of making a joint affair of it, in which all the; local associations will have an interest in the profit or loss. If this is the case, then the entire mooting may be run at Aqueduct, that being the most desirable location and closest to the city. It was first reported that dates would be applied for by the Jamaica and Aqueduct associations, but 011 further consideration no reason could be soon why the other associations should be sidetracked if the season was to be prolonged. Hence a combination of all tracks was suggested. This seems to be agreeable all around, consequently it is now merely a question of -where the meeting shall be held. President Phil Dwyor is willing to permit the use of Aqueduct if suitable arrangements are made for the conduct of the meeting. Suggestions have already been made to him. and lie has them under consideration. There is little doubt that the Jockey Club will grant a request for dates until the end of September, but it is doubtful if there will be racing here in October. What will happen when the applications for Maryland dates are to be decided is a matter for the Jockey Club to determine. Tho conflict will affect Havre de Grace, to all appearances. The trouble, if any, will be with horses, as a division of racing material may cause light fields at ltoth tracks. With racing in Canada. Kentucky, Maryland and New York, racing stables will be well divided. Since the sport has been revived in New York, racing after Saratoga closes has not proven profitable, according to reports, without any conflict with Maryland. That, however, is in the past. This year the attendance has been much bettor than heretofore, and it may hold up to paying proportions. This does not concern the public or horsemen. It is safe to say there will bo racing on one or more of the New York tracks during the month of September, as the foundation for such an experiment has been laid, and those most interested are willing to give it a trial.
