MARY BELLE, away poorly, showed high speed in getting up into contention and suffered from interference on the turn, but came resolutely through the final eighth and got up to win in the last stride. FIZER raced well and would have won but for the overconf idence of his rider. IRREGULAR came fast through the stretch. GALLANT LAI set a fast pace, but tired in the last seventy yards. LAHORE, after being saved in tins early running, drew away in the stretch to win easing up. INJURY moved up rapidly aftetr going a half mile and made a game finish. QUEEN APPLE was taken back on the first turn and came extremely wide into the stretch, but closed a big gap in the last quarter. HUSKY LAI closed a gap. JAMES DOCKERY quit after racing into the lead. RAPIDS set a fast pace and tired. Hunts feet were forced out of the stirrups on the first turn and he eased LUKEMAE up. The winner was entered for 00; 110 bid.
