CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. At Tijuana July 11 Caro Nome was sold at auction in the paddock to Samuel Lando for 50. One of Harry Payne Whitneys juveniles. Master MeGratli, is described as the worst post actor in the east. Trainer C. W. Carroll will leave Tijuana tonight for Ueno with A. 15. Sprockels Nevada Derby candidate, Sangallo. J. Groth will have the mount on the colt in his Derby engagement. George Starr has shipped to W. J. Young, at Latouia, Al Hudson and Galloping Queen. Mr. Starr has been handling these horses for the Kentucky Stable, and they will be shipped to Saratoga along with the Young horses. llarou A. de Kothschild, says tin; Deiitscher Sport, has handed the whole of the Austrian Derby stakes won by his colt, Sanskrit, to his wire for distribution in connection with war and other charities. The value of the stakes to the winner was, loughly, :o,0!. The German Crown Princes colors were successful on Whit Monday at P.erlin-Karlshorst in a minor steeplechase by aid of his aged mare I la by, steered by a jockey named Wurst. P.aby was bred in Ireland eight years ago by Mr. .1. Widgor and is by The Gunner out of Avonberg. On Saturday there is another ,000 stake at Empire City in the Kastviow, which is named after Mr. Hutlers Tarrytown farm. This race also is for the two-year-old, and in it Harry Kelly, which won Saturdays feature, may get a chance to meet some better ones than he has tried against in any of his other races. The directors of the Kentucky Association, at n meeting last week, authorized a number of improvements at the Lexington race course. The grandstand is to be extended thirty feet towards the betting shed, and more boxes are to be added. Another room is to be added to the secretarys office; the pavement in front of the grandstand and betting shed is to be raised; space for four mutiiel machines will be arranged, and a uum-- her of other improvements are to be made. Jockey E. Pool last week celebrated his twenty-second birthday at Tijuana, where he has been riding with much success. He has had a busy season of it, and liis contract employer, W. P. Fuller, recently decided that, with a view to lightening his work, his riding shall be confined to horses from his contract stable, including trainer Peter Koniighs pair Manganese and La Cazadora, and the two-year-old speed marvel, Kolliu Laird, which was placed in charge of the Puller trainer a few days ago. According to report Fuller is negotiating for the purchase of Rollin Laird.
