FAIR ORIENT was outrun for the first half, but closed up with a rush in the last eighth and was going away at the end. SPADIX set the pace, but was much used in racing 5"ALAAVAY into defeat and tired right at the end. GALA WAY, off badly, saved ground on the first turn and slipped through on the inside into second place, but tired near the end. FI,EURON II. closed a gap and finished close up. SMITIIFIKLD was taken to an outside post position and began in a tangle, but closed tip quickly and ran a game race. MAUSOLUS was a forward contender all the way. SANDS OF PLEASURE closed a big gap from a slow start and, after working his way up on the outside, finished fast. DROLL ran well and finished gamely. RARS AND STARS quit in the last eighth.
