FAVORITES GIVEN A TURN LEXINGTON FIRST CHOICES NEARLY CAPTURE THE CARD OF SEVEN RACES. Roscoe Goose Riiles Lady Rotlia, Roscoo Goose ami Sansyming to Easily "Won Victories Jockey Mack Garner Is Suspended. Lexington, Ky., September 7. The Raker-Goose combination again v:is much in the limelight during the jif ternoon. Lady Botha and Roscoc loose, both carrying the pink with gold star silks of W. II. linker, were easy winners in tin- third ami fourth races. The pair were big favorites. .lockey loose, in addition to riding the stables representatives, distinguished himself by landing Sansyniing, winner of the fifth race. The speculators fared much better this afternoon than on the opening day, for favorites were ueces: fill ill most of the races. Speculation this afternoon was much in excess of that of yesterday and compared favorably with the amount handled last fall on the second day of the meeting. The racing was interesting, hut the winners had good margins over their nearest contenders at the end. The only disappointing first choice in the first five dashes was lihinchita. which finished far back in the opening race. Then in rapid succession Sleeper, Lady Rotha, Rnsoe Goose and Sansyniing, all outstanding favorites, led Imme in their respective fields. After betting had been in progress for some time on the fifth race. Snuterelle, one of the carded starters, developed a bad case of lameness and investigation showed she had spread a foot during her preliminary. She was ordered withdrawn and those who had backed her received their money back. Jockey A. Palm, who license was held up last spring, "was granted the necessary license at the Racing Commissions last meeting and had his first mount hero on Shiustone, a first time starter from the W. II. 1 taker stable. As a result of his action in carrying out the contenders on the stretch turn while astride Filigree, Jockey Mack tinnier was suspended for five days by the judges. Leo Kav came out of his race yesterday m :. bad way and it is not likely he will be a starter again this year. The horses right foreleg has been under suspicion since his start in the Clark Handicap and liis start of yesterday was to determine if he would stand training. Othello is another that will be on the retired list for some time, as a result of having bowed a hind tendon in yesterdays racing. The injured log was put in a plaster cast and the veterinarian does not expect the injury to be serious. Price McKinnoy and James W. Corrigan. owners of the extensive- Kingston Stud, and trainer William C. Clancy, who trains their big string of racers, were visitors at the track today and left for Cleveland tonight. Trainer Clancy stated that the liftecn horses raced in the east are now at Churchill Downs and shipped in splendid style. They will be raced on the Kentucky tracks next fall." beginning at Douglas Park. Hoy .Martin was :m arrival this morning from El Paso. He stated that conditions there were practically normal and that the residents of El laso and Juarez are expecting a race meet as of yore the coming winter. There were additional arrivals this morning from Canada and a big influx is expected here with the close of the Kcnilworth meeting Saturday. Considerable interest is being manifested in the yearling sale to be held here next Tuesday night, when sixty youngsters are to be offered by auction at Tattersalls. Al T. Dobsou, who officiated in the stand at Havana last winter, was an arrival and will remain for the rest of the racing in Kentucky next fall.
