DOFGLASS S. left the barrier in a tangle, but recovered quickly ami went to the leader with a rush, then easily took the lead in the stretch and won under mild restraint. STARTER closed a gap and liuished fast. OCT was under pressure all the way and ran disappointingly. KESTREL ran well. AMAZONIAN quit after setting the early pace. AMPHION began somewhat slowly, but worked his way up on the outside and, finishing with a rush, was going away at the end. ARMINE wore the tiring CORN RHOOM down in the stretch and out-gamed him at the linish. The latter showed the most early speed, but failed to stay. PEPPER SAUCE liuished wtih a rush. GRUMPY followed the leaders under restraint in the early running, then moved up at the half-mile post and, saving ground on the stretch turn, filially outstayed KING NEPTUNE. The latter ran a good race and probably would have won had he not been forced wide on the stretch turn. THORNHILL drew away into the lead while rounding the far turn, but ran out when entering the homestretch and forced KING NEPTUNE out with him. FOUNTAIN FAY and SKEER FACE tired in the going. TOP O TH MORNING ran a good race and would probably have won with a stronger finisher up and came again at the end after having stumbled in the last few strides.
