HOTTBLESS VICTOR IN A BICH BACE. Takes the Eastern Shore Handicap at Havre de Grace Under a Heavy Impost. Baltimore, Md., September 30. August Belmonts Hourless and Woodtrap finished first and second in the Eastern Shore Handicap at the Havre de Orace course this afternoon. The winner, Hourless, is n colt by Negofol Hour Glass II., which the chairman of the Jockey Club imported from his breeding establishment in France. He showed this afternoon that he is a colt of high quality by winning as his rider pleased while carrying the heavy burden of 127 pounds. Hutwell rode a skillful race, going through the field when Hearing the upper turn and taking the lead after entering the homestretch, with the result that Hourless won by a half dozen lengths, eased up. Woodtrap was just as easily second, while Wistful, one of the .Tames Butler entry, got up just in time to nip Jock Scot for third place. The Eastern Shore was the richest stake run during the present meeting, the winners share being ,050, while second money, which also went to Mr. Belmont, was 00. The time, 1:14, was good, considering the slow condition of the track. The last day of the meeting drew a big crowd, despite the chilly weather. A wintry breeze swept ; the course from Chesapeake Bay and wraps were needed. An All-Aged Handicap at three-quarters was i spoiled by the withdrawal of Boots, Marse. Henry and Battle, leaving only three to face the starter. F. R. Docters Sand Marsh was an odds-on choice, and rewarded his backers by winning in easy fashion. A. K. Macomber, with a party of guests, witnessed the days sport. Oscar E. Lewisohn has announced his intention of shipping Boots to Kentucky to run in the Latonia k Cup. Goldcrest Boy was repurchased by I. M. Hedrick : from Max Hirsch, for the reported price of ,500. Sam Louis and M. Hirsch were responsible for the 00 advance over the entered price of ,000 on Ninety Simplex, after he won the third race today.
