DEVONSHIRE PARK STARTS OFF WELL. Bis Attendance Views the Racing Redland Wins the Feature Race Track Talk. Windsor, Out., September 30. Witli a crowd of about 7,000 present, the Western Racing Association opened its new track at Devonshire Park here this afternoon. The weather was ideal for racing and the patrons of the new track patronized the mutuel machines heavily, with the result that "the Xrices paid on the various winners were liberal. The plant, although not quite complete, is nevertheless up to date in every respect, while the mutuel machines have been arranged in such a way as to avoid congestion. The feature race of the afternoon was a claiming affair at three-quarters, and was won in easy style by G. Alexandras Redland, which followed the leaders and drew away when his rider was ready. E. T. Colton arrived today with his stable from Kentucky and saw his horse Dengro run in the third race. This horse had considerable hard luck, taking the tape in his mouth at the start and carrying it along with him for a sixteenth of a mile. "With the Colton stable came jockey Mott. George Phillips came here today from Woodbine Park ai:d will race his stable during the meeting. William Stormont will be here on Monday from Toronto and has entered The Masquerader and Scaramouch in the feature race of the day. Among other arrivals today were W. A. Mc-Kinney, E. L. Fitzgerald and W. A. Burttschell. Jockey G. Molesworth was suspended for one day for disobedience at the post. Eleanor was placed on the schooling list by starter Murray for fractiousness at the post in the fifth race. The plater A. C. Haley dropped dead here today.
