ORMEAD raced SANDOW into submission and readily withstood the final challenges of GREY LEG and ELESPIAN. GREY LEG finished with a rush. ELESPIAN, outrun early, closed a big gap, but faltered right at the end. SANDOW showed ex-cellent speed until he went lame. The winner was entered for ,000; no bid. EXPECTATION was rated behind the pace to the head of the stretch, where he came up with a rush on the outside and was going away at the end. SOLAR STAR had the most speed, opened a big gap early, but was taken back in going to the stretch turn and failed in the final drive. HALF ROCK was practicall- left at the post and had no chance. INDUCTION unseated Mr. Watters at the grand-s stand Liverpool on the last turn of the course, but was remounted and finished. PADDY KELLY blun-T dered at the first fence and lost his rider. DUKE OF DULUTH was rushed through to the front in the backfield and, setting a fast pace all the way. at all times held his company safe though he was quitting at the end and just lasted long enough. M. J. SHANNON raced in his best form and, after following the pace, came on gamely in the final drive. SKIBBEREEN just lasted to save third. CHERRY MALOTTE, under restraint in the early stages, closed some ground, but lost at the fences. The others were always outrun and OLLIE BYRNE fell early in the running. SOCONY showed some early speed, but tired badly. BROOKS and BET bolted at the fourth fence, were taken back and completed the course. BET was green at the fences and bled.
