i GREAT DAY OF SPORT AT "WOODBINE. Four Valuable Stake Races on the Last Afternoons Program at Toronto. Toronto, Ont., September 30. The Ontario Jockey -Club offered its patrons a brilliant program for the closing day of the fall meeting at Woodbine. " The track was fast and the weather perfect for outdoor sport and an immense gathering turned out to witness the racing. Seven races were carded, four of which were stakes, as follows: Grey ; Stakes for two-year-olds, at one mile, ,500 added; ; Durham Cup, one mile and three quarters, ,500 ; added; the Hendrie Steeplechase, at two miles and n half, with ,500 added and the Ontario Jockey ; Club Cup, with ,500 added, at two miles and u ; quarter. The Grey Stakes furnished an exciting ; finish in which Arm van, Cadillac and Waukeag ; finished necks apart as named. ; The diminutive Copper King picked up 114 pounds and beat Hearts of Oak by a couple of lengths in the Durham Cup. In the Hendrie Steeplechase, thanks to a good ride by Fred Williams, Bobert Oliver beat Cynosure :md New Haven. The Irish horse Fair Mac, beat lif Jr. by a nose for first money in the Ontario Jockey Club Cup, with Rancher third. lif Jr. was wearing the leader down and would have beaten him in another stride. Howard Oots has obtained first call on jockey L. Lykes for the Latonia meeting and J. F. Richardson, trainer for J. Lumsden, has secured jockey Dishmou for the Laurel meeting. The J. E. Seagram stable has signed jockey F. Robinson to ride in the Kings Plate of 1017. After William Garths two-year-old Rhymer won yesterday, several claims were put in for the "youngster and, in the drawing, G. Knebelkamp secured him for ,2S5. William Garth put in a claim for Knebelkamps Thanksgiving, after the latter won the seventh race, but S. Doyle outlucked him in the drawing. J. K. L. Ross presented Wishaway to J. Slagie .ifter her sorry showing in tin; third race and the latter immediately disposed of her to J. .1. McCarthy.
