DEVONSHIRE MEETING ENDS TODAY. Fovorites Fare Well in Yesterdays Racing Edward Tribe to Replace Starter Murray. Windsor. Ont., October 0. Todays card at Devonshire Park was made up of seven races for selling platers. The public seemed to have less difficulty in choosing the winners than on previous days and several well supported choices scored. The talent got off to a good start when Hampton Dame, trained by "Puddin" McManiel captured the first race, which was for Canadian breds. McManiel left tonight for Grevcsend, to take charge of a string of forty horses owned by Grant Hugh Browne. He will be back for the second Kenil-worth Park and Devonshire Park meetings. Edward Tribe, who was to have replaced William Murray as starter, did not arrive from Baltimore in time to assume his duties and Elmer Wilson handled the barrier in an efficient manner. He sent the fields away well together and without marked delay. Tribe will be here to do the starting tomorrow. Starter Murray, who has been indisposed of late, tendered his resignation as starter to the management after the closing race on Thursday and word was sent to Tribe to come. Capt. W. J. Press today reported that he had bought the good plater Recluse from W. Rirnie. Rirnie took this horse out of a selling race this week. . It was erroneously reported from the stable yesterday that the two-year-old Ron Otis had bowed a tendon. This was found to be incorrect, as the horse worked well this morning. The card for the closing day of this meeting, which has been a successful one from every standpoint, is a good one. Some of the best horses at the course have been named to start and interesting racing should result. The track here is becoming faster every day and it will probably be one of the best in Canada next year.
