BATTLE ABBEY, close up from the start, finished fast and, easily passing his opponents in the last sixteenth, won easing up. FLARE showed the most early speed and, after setting a fast pace, tired badly and just outstayed CHERRY RIPE. The latter ran well, but tired after getting to the leader.
