HOLDING UP THE HANDS OF AUTHORITY. Concerning the effort to make political capital out of the restrictions placed on English racing by the joint action of the authorities, the London Sporting Life says: "Racing is not in danger, but the nation still is; and surely neither the government nor the Jockey Club can be condemned for doing what they consider best in the national interest."
