EXPECTING SUCCESSFUL JUAREZ MEETING. Presence of Thousands of American Soldiers Deemed a Contributing Factor. El Paso, Tex., October 23.--That there is no danger of an attack on Juarez, Mexico, next winter by Yillistus or other bandits operating in the southern part of the state of Chihuahua, was the statement made today by United States army officers and Soriano y Bravo, Carranza consul. These officials state that the Villistas have been so badly frightened by the American punitive expedition since the Columbus raid that their leader, Francisco Villa, will not dare venture near the border again. His approach northward has been cut off by the Pershing-" troops, now .encamped near Colonia Dublan. The presence of the American troops in Mexico will prevent any further border attacks by Mexican bandits. The situation along the border is quiet and there is the best of friendly relations between Americans and Mexicans in El Paso and Juarez. Scores of tourists are crossing to Juarez each day, many of whom visit the race track. With 50.000 eastern militiamen camped in the El Paso district, the army payroll exceeding a million dollars a month and the city enjoying a wave of prosperity, everything indicates that the Jockey Club Juarez will have about the most successful meeting in its history. AVlien the curtain is rung up on the 100 or more days of racing Thanksgiving day, the largest crowd that has ever passed through the turnstiles of the over-river oval will undoubtedly be present to enjoy the days sport. From present indications there will be fully GOO horses, if not more, quartered at the over-river track when the gates are thrown open Turkey day. Thus, with the fact that the militia will spend the winter here and will add greatly to the attendance, everything points to next winter bringing the banner meeting ofthe Jockey Club Juarez.
