YOUNG HORSES IN GIDDINGS STRING. Toronto, Ont., November 9. Harry Giddings of Oakville, will have only two two-year-olds in his string for next years racing. They are both by that famous son of St. Simon, Bassetlaw, and are the last of his get. Both are big, good-looking yearlings, one a chestnut gelding, dam My Honey, and therefore a brother to Beehive and Armine. The other one is a brother to Sarolta. His dam is Jai Alai, and he now stands 15.3 in height. The My Honey colt is now 15.1. Both have been tried this fall, and have shown good speed. They have not been named. Hearts of Oak, undoubtedly the best of Bassetlaws progeny, will in all probability bo used for breeding purposes by Mr. Giddings next spring. He is also royally bred on his dams side, being out of Lady Lightfoot II., the dam of AVire In, AArar Whoop and other good ones. Hearts of Oak returned from Laurel last week with a bad-looking ankle, the result of hitting himself while going through the field. The injury is not thought to be serious, however, and he may be seen under colors in cross-country races next year. There is only one yearling at Cedar Grove Farm this fall, a colt by Martimas Burdette. The latter is the dam of Captain B., a frequent winner during the past racing season on Canadian tracks.
