CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. Although Danny Maher was American-born, he became n naturalized Englishman after having ridden a few years there. He died a wealthy man and is survived by a wife. James F. Burns, a turf writer for a number of years, and for a much longer time connected intimately with the turf, died Tuesday afternoon at his home in Sixteenth street, Sheepshead Bay, of ulcers of the stomach. Mr. Burns was taken ill during the Laurel meeting when, he reutrned to New York, and since that time he has been confined to his room. But a few days ago it was confidently expected that he would recover, but there was a sudden turn for the worse Monday and he sank rapidly. He is survived by a widow.
