SAM HILDRETHS WAYS WITH HORSES. Trainer Hildreth has adopted a hcav system of handling yearlings Avhich are taking their first lessons. After being given exercise under saddle for a short time they are rubbed down lightly and then turned out for an hours play or grazing in their paddocks, and following this comes another short lesson under saddle to be followed by another "recess," and so on until they shall h.we had enough AA-ork for the day. He also follows a similar plan Avith his horses which are out of training, giving them alternate hours in their boxes and out in their paddocks, from the time of day when the air and sunshine make it pleasant out of doors, until the chill of evening comes on.
