CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. A correspondent of an English paper objects to such names as The Hun and Iron Cross for race horses. He is of the opinion that no horses named Tommy Atkins and Victoria Cross would be allowed to run and win in Germany. Barney Barutch, a new comer to the turf, who will race a string of horses on the New York tracks next year, is credited with having cleaned up ,000,000 yesterday, in the most spectacular plunging Wall street has known in years. The new trainer for Mr. E. Hulton, who headed the list of English racing winners for several seasons, is W. Walters. He comes of a noted family of trainers, and is a brother of John Walters, trainer for Mr. George, M. Hendrie of Hamilton. The Hulton stable includes Knutsford, a two-year-old that made a big mark this year, and held pride of place in the Free Handicap, which is the semi-official placing of the two-yenr-olds at the close of each seuson.
