KILKENNY BOYS GOOD RACING RECORD. Kilkenny Hoy, the four-year-old gelding by Hippodrome .Maid of Erin, which dropped dead last Mor.dav at the Empire City track, was one of a big bahd of two-year-olds purchased by James Butler from the estate of the late James It. Kcenc and was bred at the famous Castleton Stud in Kentucky. As u two-year-old Kilkenny Boy started eleven times, in live of which he was victorious. He could run equally as well on a slow or fast track. That he possessed a fine turn of speed was demonstrated when he hung up a record of 1:05 for five and one-half furlongs at Laurel. Probably his best effort as a two-year-old was when he beat a band of older horses in a handicap at Laurel over a heavy track, among others finishing behind him being Harry Shaw and Spring Board. Kilkenny Boy only faced the barrier three times in his three-year-old season and failed to win, finishing second in one race. It was a singular fact that the big band of Butler two-year-olds, which carried off many rich prizes of the turf in 1914, turned out the unexpected disappointment of the 1915 season. Kilkenny Boy entered the 1910 season with every indication that he would help make amends for the short coinings of tlie previous season and in whirlwind fashion, won five straight races, displaying a marked degree of speed on each occasion. He went wrong early iu July, but was said to have rounded to again and in the best of health when his sudden death oceured. Kilkenny Boys brief racing career is outlined in the table below: Kilkenny Boy, ch. g, 1912 by Hippodrome Maid of Erin. Year. Age. Sts. 1st. 2d. 3d. Unp.
