+ + THIRTY FOUR-YEAR-OLDS WHICH EXCELLED IN WINNING MONEY IN LAST YEARS RACING i 1 Some splendid four-year-olds shed lustre on the racing of 1910. Of these The Finn was best. After winning the Metropolitan Handicap and running its mile in 1 :3N. with 120 pounds up. he trained off and was not himself for some time. But at Saratoga lie began to regain health and form and throughout the fall was a great race horse. The only time lie was beaten after winning the Champlain Handicap at Saratoga was when Friar Rock and Roamer defeated him in the Saratoga Cup. In his last two races he carried high weights and vanquished such stars as Spur. Barrow, Stromboli. Roamer. Bayberry Candle. Bhoti Orass and Capra. He is a fine horse and should shine again this year. Ed Crump was another capital four-year-old. fast, up to carrying high weights and a good stayer, but not quite the equal of The Finn. These horses were all good stayers, as also were Runes and Rancher. Another kind of four-year-old. Top o tli" Morning, was one of the best sprinters of the year and a horse of remarkable speed. The fact that out of twenty-four races he won half and was only four times unplaced speaks for itself. especially since he was generally competing with his own class. Some other sprinters of notable speed were Chalmers. Sand Marsh end A. N. Akin. The Waterboy gelding. Iif Jr.. was an example of the old-time stayer. He developed slowly, but when it came to the running of the fin tenia Cup last October gave a high-class exhibition and showed he was of the stuff thai old-time four-milers were made of. There were many other four-year-olds which could go far and fast under favorable condition-. Of them all the thirty most successful in the important matter of winning money for their owners were the following: Horse. Col. Sex. Fedigree Owner. Sts. 1st. 2d. 3d. Ijip. Won. Ed Crump ...eh. C.
