The well-known sire Crackonthorpe. a highly-successful hunter stallion in Ireland, died recently at the Churehton Stud. Buttevant. County Cork. II" was tin- last surviving son of Hermit at the stud in the Tinted Kingdom, and was foaled as far back as 1S.S7, so that he was in his thirtieth year. His dam was Symmetry, by Distinder, dam Symmetrical, by Macaroni. Tiie death took place suddenly on Tuesday. Feb. ruary in Dublin, of R. N. Talbot, whose colors arCTC conspicuous on Irish race courses about twenty years ago. One of the best horses he bred and owned was Golden Crescent, which with other racers belonging to him, were trained by F. Cul- len at Boawaote Lodge, Cnrragh.
