Hawthorn won his first race, when a two-year-old. at Juarez January 3. 1912. as the property of G. H. Coyle. That year he ran in eighteen races, of which he won fourteen. He won his first six consecutively as the proi erty of Coyle and was then sold to C. F. Buschemeyer for u high price.
