CURKENT NOTES OF THE TURF. There are now in the Inited States only about 1.250.000 horses fit and available for artillery or cavalry service at cording to an estimate made by B. Kay Hoskins. lh. Mr. Randolph says this foal is such a splendid one that he has decided to send his mare to Great Britain again. Former jockey Clarence Turner is now employed as a groom by the A. K. Macomber stable in Kentucky. It is said that his employer is making an effort to have the boy reinstated. W. W. Phillips, who was considered a coming rider wlien he joined the Macomber stable last spring, now weighs 118 pounds, and on account of increasing weight lie may not be able to ride this year. A notice to owners and trainers in the English Racing Calendar states that "any horse remaining at Newmarket or in the immediate neighborhood for a longer period than four consecutive weeks, is not entitled to the reduction in entrance fee allowed in the conditions of certain races for horses not trained ut Newmarket, and any horse trained on the Heath longer than this period becomes liable to Heath tax."
