All of Spearmints twenty seven, by tin way, l.ul one. which is a gray, son of llaurdina. and a brown son of YYiukipop arc bays. He is i vidently a pure dominant sire, except for an occasional gray, for in IBIS and Bill they were neai ly all bays or browns. The "Bachelors" and Others. Bridge of Earn, which stood in Ireland in MIS at the Knockany Stud, is a half-brother to Bridge of Canny and Bridge of Allan. He is responsible for twenty-five of last years foals and Bridge of Allan for thirteen. The well-known brothers. Bachelors Double and Bachelors Hope, had respectively nineteen and twenty - four foals to their credit. The foal by Bachelors Double Llangarren Lass dam of Llangwm. Which is now. of course, a yearling, is named War Baby. Another good broodmare that foaled to Bachelors Double was St. Flora dam of Loii..wauil. etc.. and yet another was Santa Maura. Boi Iterate I momentarily overlooked. He should have been named before the last -mentioned pair, having sired twenty -five foals of last season, among them being youngsters from such well-known mares as Chancery. Cream a" Hi Sky. Santee and Vivid. Lemberg and Simon Square hid each twenty-four foals and among Lembergs now yearlings are the produce of the Oaks winner Chori-iiinj.-i. Lady Vista. Chestnut Sunday. Ik- no near relations to Diadumenos, Diadem or Eos among the two-year-olds of 1*18. Valens Makes a Good Showing. Yalcns did so well last year with Julian. Arius and others that it is interesting to find that among his twenty-three now yearlings are brothers to the two colts named. The brother to Julian, however, is a black instead of a bay, but Arius brother is like the latter, a bay. Sires of twenty-two living foals were Marcovil. St. Amant. Poor Boy. St. Yietrix an! Ulster King. At all events, three of the youngsters by St. Amant — those out of All My Eye. Facet and Zohara — were bred by the IBM Derby winners owner. Mr. L. de Rothschild. There is no relation to either Hurry On or Cerval among the youngsters by Marcovil. which recently died. Sires of twenty-one foals include Calloping Simon, The Cull, John o Jaunt and White Magic, while the only ones with twenty to their credit are Bayardo and Swynford. Quite a number of stallions sired nineteen foals, for in addition to Bachelors Double already mentioned. Adam Bede. Cicero, Dnrloy Dale and William Kufus Is-got that number of foals that lived. The Cicero foals include a colt that is a son of the Derby heroine, Signorinetta, and among those that foaled to Adam Bede was Mr. Stedalls little favorite. La Lune. The first crop by The Tetrarch came to hand last year, and there are fifteen of them, among them eight grays and one brown or gray, also a roan, four bays and a brown. Ten of the fifteen are fillies. — "Yigilant" in LaadMa Sportsman.
