CONNING TOWER DIES AT LEXINGTON. Conning Tower, the property of ex-jockey Carroll Shilling, died at the Kentucky Association track. The horse, while being shipped to Lexington from Tijuana this spring, contracted pleurisy and arrived in bad condition. He showed improvement for a few days, but hid a relapse last Friday, and though everything was done for him, he died Saturday BBKM. Conning Tower was a good sprintt r and :i popular favorite among the Kentucky racing people. The Yankee gelding began his turf career in 1914, starting twice without winning in his first year of racing. As a three-year-old Conning Tower made a creditable record, with fifteen victories out of thirty-seven starts and $.1,736 in stable earnings to his credit. Last year he started in twenty races, of which he won live.
