FASTER WORK AT WOODBINE PARK. Many Horses at Woodbine Track Show Improvement in Their Daily Preparation for Spring Racing. Toronto. Out.. April 27. -The Kings Plate candidate at Woodbine showing the best work up to the present time is the Thorncliffe filly I.ritaiiuia. which worked a mile yesterday on what was by i.i means a fast track iu 1:38%, going alone, ami dates the gallop well. Impress, her companion iu the Plate, went only three -quarters in 1:25, while the two year olds. Pleasure Pent and .loflro, did three eighths in 38%, the best the youngsters have done here. Qraphle went three-quarters handily in 1:20. Tartrate, Faster Lily and King Hamburg did the same distance iu 1 :--. The Irish three-year-olds. Iron Cross and Bachelors Bliss, put in a half in 52%. Both of these horses have a good way of going and did their work this morning handily. The fastest move of the morning was made by the two Montreal-owned horses. Cerf Volant and Red Post. Breaking together they went three eighths in 87%, the first quarter in better than 25 seconds. Ring Dove and Smart Cat. the Beardmore candidates for the Plate, were only asked to go three-quarters in 1:28%. Rnvcnscourt also galloped three-quarters in 1:25. Crews String Arrives at Woodbine. Claries Crew moved his string to Woodbine yesterday from their winter quarters at the Hall-Way house on the Kingston road. In the band were Old Pop, Oriana Kings Plater. Popper Sauce. Corn Broom. Miss Gayle. Nellis . and Kddie I. The latter two are three-year-olds, hut were disqualified as eligibles for the Kings Plate by being turned out iu the Province of Quebec, near Coiinaught Park for a period of over thirty days last summer. Oriana. the stables Plate representative, is looking well and on her arrival was galloped a circuit of the course along with Old Pop. In fact both looked fit. and show that they have not been idle this spring. Neither Nellis C. nor Eddie I, were likely to have cut much figure in the Plate race iu any event, as they am a little undersized. Pepper Sauce has broadened out greatly during the past winter, and looks exceptionally well. He won five races last year and gives promise of improving this season. Corn Broom and Miss Gale have also wintered well. Mr. Crew also has two fine yearlings. Jim Petrie. ch. c. by Wire In — Caaate Maid, and C. A. Crew, br. c. by Nealon — Amberite. Joseph Duane reports a fine filly foal, chestnut in color, by Plaudmor, — Pridooi:. Plaudmore is rapidly coming to the front as a sire. Several good-looking two-year-olds by this good son of Plaudit, are in training this spring, and will be seen at the races this year. Harry Giddings has several fine-looking youngsters at his Cedar Grove Farm, by Mr. Ooa lies horse.
