HORSEMEN ADMIRE SPEY PEARL. Montreal. Quo.. April 27. — Uobert W. Davies and Harry biddings. Jr.. who were in Montreal to attend "a meeting of the committee of the Thoroughbred Horse Association, paid a visit to the farm of It. Raymond at Oorval to take a look at Spey Pearl, the recent gift from the King, to encourage the breeding of horses in Canada. They were both well pleased with the horse from the Royal Stud and it is likely that both, who are well-known breeders in Ontario, will breed mares to him. Harry Giddings is from Oakville. where numerous winners of the Kings Plate at Toronto have beea bred. He has in training an eligible for tin-Plato this season iu Captain P.. one that will give a good account of himself. Captain P. graduated from the maiden class at Plue Bonnets at the autumn meeting of the Montreal Jockey Club last Septemlier. Harry Giddings reports that all of his horses have wintered well and are now being worked at the Woodbine track in Toronto. Robert W. Davies is a son of the late Robert Davies, who was one of the pioneers of Canadian racing. He was looked on as one of the largest breeders iu Canada at the time of his death and his sons are following in his footsteps.
