WILCOX BILL AGAIN DELAYED. Ottawa. Out.. May 9. — Some surprise was occasioned at Monday nights sitting of the House of Commons when the Wilcox bill was again reached on the order paix-r and Hon. C. J. Doherty. minister of justice, rose and asked that it should once more stand over for a few day-;. Hon. Mr. Doherty explained his raepsest for further postponement by stating that Mr. Oliver Wilcox was unwell. Tin; minister of justice told the- House, however, that the only question to be determined at the present time was the appointment of the Parliamentary Committee to whom it will be referred, and the determining of the scope of the committees work. For this reason it seemed inexplicable that the indisposition of Mr. Wilcox and his absence from the House Monday night should have in itself necessitated the minister asking for another post-l oncnient. There are rumors, entirely unofficial and unconfirmed, that representations have been made objecting to the personnel of the committee as previously announced, and that certain changes are being pressed for. A vigorous correspondence campaign is being waged by organizations and individuals anxious to stop all racing after the spring meetings «ntu Aw ejid of tbe war.
