F. R. HITCHCOCKS SUCCESS AS A BREEDER. A member of the Jockey Club, whose success ns a breeder, considering the extent of his operations has been remarkable, is Frank R. Hitchcock, whose Sandy Hook won the Prix de Balleroy at Chniitilly in France from twenty-one competitors in a breeding trial held recently by the French government. Le Jockey gives the colt praise and William Duke in a recent letter to his employer, W. K. Vanderbilt, spoke in the highest terms of the prowess of Sandy Hook. Mr. Hitchcock said that when it would Ihj possible to bring Saudy Hook to America, breeders here would have n chance to patronize him. "He is by Rock Sand Tangles by Meddler," said Mr Hitchcock, "and the next dam, Hjindspun, was by Hanover. Sons of Rock Sand are doing wonderfully well both here and abroad, as witness the success of Trap Rock, Flint Rock and Rochester. Tracery nnd .Vulcaiii are also bound to make good and we shall see the first of their get this year." Mr. Hitchcock was one of the syndicate which purchased Rock Sand for 40,000 from Mr. Belmont and sent liini to France, where he died. Sandy Hook was foaled in France and was trained by the well-known American "horseman Fred Burlew.
