THE BROOK moved up menacingly in the last half, but tired and probably was short. SLIPSHOD tired and quit in the final eighth and then was not persevered with. MARCHENA finished well. ED CUDIHEE displayed the most speed in the going, raced MARIE MILLER into defeat and drew clear in the last eighth. RHINE MAIDEN saved ground when entering the homestretch, gained steadily and finished fast. BROOKS, shuffled back while rounding the last turn and forced to race wide in the homestretch, finished gamely and outstayed COCKTAIL. The latter raced fcrwardly throughout and held on gamely at the finish. MARIE MILLER quit badly. TRIAL BY JURY could never get up. YANKEE WITCH was eased up when she tired.
