Won driving; second and third the same. CORN TASSEL, after racing in nearest pursuit or the leader, slipped through next to the rail on the Inst turn and, finishing fast, won in the last stride. HIGH NOON set a fast pace and, racing into a long lead, came wide when entering the homestretch, hut held on gamely when challenged. TOM McTAGGART was prominent all the way, but was tiring in the closing strides. WHIMSY swerved behind the leaders in the last eighth, but finished fast. GLOOMY GUS closed a big gap and ran a good race PAX 55 A R ETA raced well to the stretch and tired. PAX MAID ran wide throughout. DAWN STAR was clear of interference and responded gamely when called on, but was tiring in the final strides. GREEN GOLD raced next to the rail throughout and made a game effort at the eighth post, but tired us if short. STELLA MIA, away slowly, closed a big gap and tired. RECOUNT was shuUled back and could never recover. The winner, entered for ,000, was bid up to 1917.sh,205 and bought in. MEMORIES II, displayed excellent speed, raced CURRENCY into defeat in the first half and took the lead, but could not withstand the winners challenge. FRAGONARD raced extremely wide all the way, but finished fast when straightened out in the homestretch. AZALEA ran well. PANAMA N closed a big gap and finished faster than the leaders. PEERLESS ONE had no mishaps and was cased up in the closing strides. BATTLE ABBEY closed up witli a rush in the last eighth and passed HANOBALA, but tired in the final drive. BEAVERKILL was forced wide while rounding the last turn, but finished fastest of the leaders. HANOBALA set the pace under stout restraint in the early running, but tired when forced to a drive. PASSING FANCY quit after going well for three-quarters. QUEEX OF THE SEA, away poorly, had no chance. Scratched 34S33 Flash of Steel, 99. Overweights Queen of the Sea, 3 pounds.
