P. L. SHORT TO BE WE.LL REPRESENTED Will Have Quite a String of Weil-Known Campaigners at the Timonium Meeting. Baltimore, Md., September, 4.-Among the most pretentious strings of thoroughbreds Avhich wili be raced during the fall meeting of the Maryland State Fair and Agricultural Society, beginning this afternoon at Tinomium, will be that belonging to P. L. Short. Sliort recently arrived at the Baltimore county half mile course from Canada with a half dozen Avell-known campaigners, which will tie started in the sprints and oAer a long distance of ground. The stable comprises Parlor Boy, Early Morn, Borax, Star Bird, 0Ama and Ischgabibble. All haAe Avon purses over Maryland tracks and it AA-ill be recalled by the local folloAvers of the turf that Parlor Boy dashed home in front on no less than three occasions during the spring meeting of the Southern Maryland Agricultural Association at Bowie. The Timonium meeting,, which" will run for five clays, marks the opening of the fall racing season in Maryland. It Avill be followed by Havre de Grace, the gates of Avhich Avill be throAvn open to the public on September 11. Owing to the curtailing of racing in Canada on account of the Aar, the Tinonium meeting Avill be patronized by turfmen Avho have never visited that plant in previous years. The purses will range from 50 to 00 and they have served to attract a decidedly better band of thoroughbreds than are usually started OA-er the smaller OAals in this state. The program of the meeting includes a steeplechase for each day. The pari-mutuel system of betting will be in use and the eAent from the pressnt outlook promises to be .the most successful ever held at the Baltimore county track. George Miller Avill act as starter, Avhile the other officials will be men Avho have officiated at the big tracks throughout the country. Timonium is only a half hour ride from the center of the city by train and is accessible to electric cars. There Avill be six races daily.
