PLANS OF RIDDLE-JEFFORDS STABLE Best Two-Year-Olds in Pennsylvania Turfmans Stablo in Stake Races at Havre de Grace. Baltimore, Md., September 4. Two of the strongest stables of racers owned: by Pennsylvania turf folks that will take part in the coming meeting of the Harford Agricultural and Breeders Association at Havre de Grace. September 11 to 29, will represent Samuel "D. Riddle of Philadelphia. . and his niece, Mrs. William M. Jeffords. Mr. Riddle has nnmed the two-year-old Reveler for the Trenton I Soiling Stakes; El Plaudit and Bully Boy for the Eastern Shore and Erdenheim Handicaps, two of the best juvenile events to be decided in the course of the meeting, and the three-year-old filly, Bonnie Witch, for the Fox Hill Handicap. Mrs. Jeffords nomination for the Trenton Selling Stakes is Red Sox, and she has named the high-priced Smoky Lamp for the Eastern Shore and Erdenheim Handlr caps. Reveler, a gelded "son of Sweeper, -which won the Two Thousand Guineas in Great Britain a few years bifk for the late Herman B. Duryen, Ribaude, a Fivnch mare, was one of the most successful of the second-flight two-year-olds that raced at Saratoga. After being beaten by Richard T. Wilsons Annchen on August 11, he defeated a smart field 011 August 17, and repeated on August 23, winning on this occasion in such commanding fashion from a bunch of shifty selling platers that Mr. Riddle had to pay ,000 to protect him. Reveler was one of the French-bred yearlings Mrs, Duryea sold in the paddock at Saratoga in August, 1910. He cost Mr. Riddle ,350, and lias developed into a two-year-old of substantial size, high speed and fine courage. He is, moreover, equally useful in muddy and dry going. Expect Yankee Witch to Show Good Form. El PJapdjJt and ..Bully Boy were bought by the Pennsylvania!! turfman ns yearlings in Kentucky last fall. Although neither has yet run to the promise of his yearling trails, both have shown encouraging speed under weight. Yankee AVitch, a fleet daughter of Ogden Events whose maternal grar.ddam was Renown, a daughter of St. Simon Lady Reel she the dam of Hamburg, won the Spinawny Stakes of 1910 at-Saratoga for Mr. Riddle from Koh-I-Noor and the ill-starred Tragedy and a bunch of other smart fillies. She was out of sorts last sprihg and no serious effort was made to train her. But she improved steadily after William Kar-rick took her to Saratoga early in August and she will come to Maryland in tip-top racing condition. Yankee Witch is a filly of such unusual speed that Mr. Riddle will keep her at sprinting at Havre de Grace in September and at the other Maryland tracks later on. Red Sox, which will represent Mrs. Jeffords in the Trenton Selling Stakes, Is a strapping son of Irish Lad Zuua. Like Reveler, he was bred in France by the late Mr. .Duryea, whose silks his famous sire bore to victory in many great races on this side of the Atlantic. Red Sox came higher at the Duryea sale at Saratoga last summer. He cost Mrs. Jeffords , GOO. He scored his maiden victory at Saratoga on August 15, when he defeated Payment and Frederick the Great and a couple of other youngsters which have since won. Red Sox, also, is at home in going of any sort. Smoky Lamp may show; at Havre de Grace that she is the smartest two-year-old filly of the year. A daughter of Plaudit Offensive, she cost Mrs. Jeffords a big. price in Kentucky last spring and she rail like a good filly at. Saratoga on August 7, when she defeated Rose dOr, Payment, So Long Letty and four or five other light-footed misses in a maiden race .of the highest class. Smoky Lamp was cut down behind iij this race, but she is well over that injury now and about ready for colors. Also it is probable that Dr. Johnson, a recently -gelded son of Sir John Johnson Quack, which won at Yonkers in smart company, may be seen under colors at Havre de Grace. Dr. Johnson belongs to Mrs. Jeffords string.
