CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF Liberty Loan was a trifle high in flesh for the grueling race he encountered in the Jerome Handicap. The colt will undoubtedly perform better the next time out. W. S. Heather, who recently arrived in New York from London, has brought over witli him nine thoroughbred yearlings and one two-year-old, the product of the Rugby Stud, England. There are of the yearlings, five fillies and four colts and the two-year-old is a colt. Among the sires represented are Heliotrope, Fariman, Land League, Llangwm and Fowling Piece. They are quartered at Durlands Riding Academy for the present. "We all owe a debt of gratitude to the various transportation companies," said August Belmont Saturday at Belmont Park, "for the manner in which they handled the big shipments of men and horses from Saratoga. When you consider the extraordinary demands which arc being made on the railwuy and express companies, whose capacities are taxed to the utmost by the emergency of war shipments, it is remarkable that they found a way to put a majority of our thoroughbreds here In time to-take part in our opening day.
