TURF NOTES FROM- OTHER LANDS Mr. S. B. Joels Lord Wavelet, by Wavelets Pride Lady Maude, won the Johannesburg Winter Handicap of ,000, H. E. De Mestres Draughtsman being second, and J. Neilsons Bachelor of Arts third. The distance was 1 1-8 miles. The winner started favorite at 5 to 2 against. Some big efforts are in contemplation to revive racing at Pretoria, or falling anything else; to keep the sport going until the close of the war, when it is hoped that the return to normal times generally will automatically enable the club to regain its popularity.
