KILMER YEARLINGS AT LOUISVILLE Fine Band of Sons and Daughters of Ogdeh Are Quartered at Churchill Downs. Louisville, - Ivy., December 5. Henry McDaniel is expected here shortly for the purpose of looking over the W. S. Kilmer stables dozen yearlings, that are being wintered at Churchill Downs, in charge of trainer A. D. Steele. Mr. Steele .is well and favorably known in racing circles, having formerly raced a modest stable of his own. Last summer he disposed of his horses in order to accept his present position. Two of his sons, Thomas and Itryan, are former jockeys. Thomas the elder one, retired from the saddle about eight years ago and Is now employed in a Baltimore bank. Itryan, the youngest, quit the service more recently . and is at present employed by the Louisville and Nashville railroad at Latouia. Richard, the second eldest, who never had a liking for racing, now belongs to Uncle Sams navy. EVERMAN TO SHIP TO FAIR GROUNDS. Jim Everman, who has a dozen horses in training at Douglas Park, intends shipping them to New Orleans, provided lie succeeds in securing stalls at the Fair Grounds track. Five of the number are the property of Jake Greenberg, a Louisville hotel man, while the rest belong to various other owners. The Greenlerg band comprises Ordnung, The Merry Whirl, Snappy and a couple of yearlings. Jockey R. Wingfield, the Covington boy under contract to Everman, has been leased to W. F. Schulte, who is railing at Havana. The boy will rejoin Everman in the spring. Col. W. E. Applegate is at present enjoying a rest at his home in this city, prior to his departure for one of the winter tracks. He had intended going to Tijuana, but has rearranged his plans and will probably make Havana his objective oint. Tex Formnu, the two-year-old that W. II. Itaker is reported to have lost by death at New Orleans recently, was regarded as the best juvenile in the Baker stable. During his one year of racing, the son of .Master Robert Marbles had started in sixteen races. He won three, ran second three times and was third on one occasion. He- won a selling stake race at Latouia last spring and finished second to Escoba in the Harold Stakes. His last start was in the Queen City Stakes, run the closing day of the I.Mtonhi fall meeting.
