JOCKEY KLEEGER TO RIDE FOR J. LOWE Matt Winn Returns to Louisville — Long Horses to Remain at Churchill Downs. Louisville. Ky.. April 19. — Announcement was made yesterday that jockey B. Kleeger. who rode last ye.-.r for the stable of James Corrigan. would ride" this season for the stable of John Lowe. Earl Mctju.-iide. formerly business agent for the Corrigan stable, will act in a like capacity for the establishment in charge of John Lowe and will make Kleegers engagements. Kleegers contract with his former employer dees not expire until June 1. but Mr. Corrigan has given him permission to ride for I iv.e. Kleeger i.s now empbiyed galloping the Lowe horses at Douglas Park. He is regarded as a most callable rider and his services will no doubt lie in demand. Trainer Lowe does not intend shipping any horses to Lexington. Col. Matt Winn, general manager of Churchill Downs, returned today from a brief vacation spent at French Lick Springs. He exitccts to remain in Louisville to complete arrangements for the meeting that opens May 11. K. H. Vestal is due to arrive at Churchill Downs shortly, bringing with him a doxm two-year-olds, the prooerty of Dr. I. E. Clark and George L. Mwfflint. two well-known Texas breeders and owners. Track Superintendent Tom Young, in charge of th- work of soliciting subscriptions to the Liberty Loan among the horsemen at Churchill Downs, sne-i-eeocii in securing a total of over 0,000. Mr. Voung was complimented highly by the committee in charge of the work in this city over his good showing. MADDEN HORSES LEAVE FOR EAST. The second and last shipment of the horses belonging to John E. Madden went forward to Bel-mon: Park yesterday in charge of William S. Walker. The horses, mostly two-year-olds, left here in splendid condition, being pretty well advanced in their training. S. C. Nuckols. secretary of the State Racing Commission, visited both local tracks yesterday to impress upon trainers and jockeys the necessity of forwarding without delay their applications for licenses. He told them such applications must be in the office of the commission at Lexington by next Monday. ....
