RECOUNT IS A PREAKNESS CANDIDATE Owner Goldsborough Believes Andrew Millers Three-Tear-Old Has an Excellent Chance to Win. New York. April 19.— Outside of A. J. Goldsbor-otighs stable of twenty-two horses there is a mixed band at the Graveseud track and from all account -there are not many horses that approach the average. Quite a number left for Havre de Grace recently and the stables are sparsely filled. That Mr. Goldsborough is fitting Recount for the Preakness is understood, and what is more, he considers him quite a factor. "Hell lie a dangerous horse." according to Goldsborough. and those who. have seen the colt lately are inclined to the belief that his trainer is right. Recount has grown somewhat and in other ways is much improved. His trainer talks about him just as he used to talk about Reamer when that stout little son of Knight Errant was at the height of his career. "Anybody who does not think Recount is a fiue horse has another thought coming." said Mr. Goldsborough. "and he is ready for some good, hard work, which he is going to get from now on. While he may not win the Preakness. he is going to put up an argument, and neither Papp nor l an-ius nor "any other horse had better linger on the way home, for they will find Recount scrapping like a bulldog for that big prize. "I am going to take Ticket, along with Recount, to Pimlico. also some two-year-olds, but I have not decided which oues yet. The car is ordered for April 24 or 2.1. PROVERB A GOOD PROSPECT. "There are four or five fine-looking two-year-olds in the stable, although none of them has much size, but the one belonging to Mr. Mouahau. Proverb, the Golden Maxim — Mary Bodine colt, which he bought at Saratoga, has enough size to make him a really fine horse. All my horses are ready for fast work. Roamer is the same good horse he always was. and he will be seen in the handicaps around hen. Snapdragon II.. a fair sort of three-year-old. will figure in some of the races. Snapdragon II. has done well all winter and is much improved. In fact, it would not surprise me to see him beat some fair horses this year. "I feel certain Roamer. Ticket and Recount will all win races, but 1 would not guarantee the younger division." That Mr. Goldsborough can successfully jioint a horse for a race is uniuestioned. H,. prepared Ticket for last years Kentucky Derby, and he finished second to Omar Khayyam. It is the Ticket Iierformance that gives Mr. Goldsliorough some as suram-e that Recount will tie a factor in the Preakness. as he is believed to be quite as good a horse as Ticket and may be better. "There is no Omar Khayyam in this years Preakness." savs the trainer of Recount, "and. while Papp. Lucullite and I.tnius are i|u |t-.estionuhly good colts, it is doubtful if any one of them is as good as Omar Khayyam." *
