JAS. T. CLARK SURE DERBY STARTER Owner Schorr So Decides After Seeing Colt Work Fast Mile and an Eighth. Louisville. Ky.. April 19. — ".las. T. Clark, barring accidents between now and May 11. will i osi-tively start in the Kentucky Derby and 1 am satisfied that the horse that beats him will win the rich stake." This was the declaration made by John W. Schorr, owner of Cue celt, after he had witnessed his latest try-out at Douglas park yesterday morning. "And was the race to be decided in the course of a few days." continued Mr. Schorr. "I am satisfied my colt would wiu from the ones most fancied at present, for there is not one of them that is in such perfect racing con dition." , . • Owner Schorr arrived from his home m Memphis in time to witness the colts fine work, which was at the increased distance of a mile and an eighth. The son of Dick Finnell— Paradise Won. with Earl Pool up. ran the distance in 1J»%. going the mil-in l:40-j. He showed brilliant speed and was in such a running mood, that his rider had to take an extra good hold of him. Coming down the front stretch. Pool had him under double wraps.
