FOREIGN-BRED HORSES PLENTIFUL New York April 19. — The number of foreign-bn-d horses of racing age in this country is well demonstrated in the entries for the Preakness Stakes, to be decided at Plmlico May 15. For this race then-were 144 entries received ami of the number fifty are foreign -bred. There will be found almost a like percentage in the two-year-old stakes and for-elgn-breds an- destined to cut a most important figure in the sport this year. It bus been a demonstrated that the Knglish and French horses take some time to become thoroughly acclimated and accustomed to the changed conditions on this side of the Atlantic and it is conceded by horsemen that the foreign-bred two-year -olds of 1917 will In- better three-year-olds in 1918. There were also some of them that did not begin to come to themselves until the fall season, and they, too, may be expected to go on to better things this year.
